NCCSIA Announces 2017-18 University Division All-State Women's Basketball Teams

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2017-18 University Division All-State Women's Basketball Teams on Tuesday. A total of 10 student-athletes from seven different North Carolina schools were named to the first and second teams.

Elon, which won the Colonial Athletic Association title and reached the NCAA Tournament, led all schools with three selections while UNCW garnered a pair of picks.

A pair of student-athletes – Campbell senior guard Summer Price and High Point junior guard Emma Bockrath – earned First-Team All-State notice for the second consecutive season. A two-time All-Big South Conference Second Team pick, Price started all 30 games for the Camels and was the team's leading scorer with a 14.6 average. Bockrath, meanwhile, earned First-Team All-Big South distinction for the second year in a row after leading the Panthers in scoring (13.7 points per game), rebounding (6.9 rebounds per game), steals (75) and minutes played (1034).

Elon senior guard Shay Burnett received First-Team All-State honors after leading the Phoenix to its second straight NCAA Tournament berth. A starter in all 32 games, the Graham, N.C., product paced Elon in scoring with a 13.3 average and dished out 6.5 assists per game.

Laia Raventos, a junior guard from Charlotte, also claimed a spot on the NCCSIA All-State First Team. The First-Team All-Conference USA selection was the 49ers' leading scorer by averaging 14.3 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the field. A starter in all 30 games, she also dished out a team-high 176 assists.

Sophomore guard C'Coriea Foy of North Carolina A&T rounds out the All-State First Team. A Second-Team All-MEAC selection, Foy guided the Lady Aggies to a 23-9 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament after winning the conference tournament title. Foy, who started 31-of-32 games, paced the Lady Aggies with 76 steals and was the team's leading scorer with a 12.8 average.    

The NCCSIA All-State Second Team is comprised of redshirt senior Jenny DeGraaf of UNCW, senior Malaya Johnson of Elon, sophomore Bayley Plummer of Appalachian State, sophomore Ra'Shika White of Elon and sophomore Lacey Suggs of UNCW.

Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.
