FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Ten student-athletes form the 2008-09 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Men’s Basketball Teams released on Wednesday.
The teams consist of five student-athletes from North Carolina NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges and universities. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams. Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions. Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate SportsInformation Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports informationprofessionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independentinstitutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of theorganization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university orconference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibilitylies within sports information. NCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) andCollege (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’sbasketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball.

The first team selections include four juniors and a senior withthree players helping their teams to reach postseason tournament playthis season.
L.J. Dunn of Barton College was a first team All-ConferenceCarolinas selection and a second team All-Southeast Region pick. Heaveraged 14.6 points and 9.2 rebounds. Dunn led Barton in points pergame and rebounds per game while leading the Bulldogs to the regularseason and tournament titles. Mount Olive’s Kendrick Easley was named the Conference CarolinasPlayer of the Year after ranking 15th in the nation in points per gamewith 21.2. A second team All-State selection last year, Easley helpedMount Olive to become regular season conference co-champions while heranked nationally in free throw percentage, three-point field goalpercentage, three-point field goals and points per game. Clay Henson paced the Guilford Quakers with 18.7 points per gameearning first team All-Conference honors as well as first teamAll-Region honors from D3hoops.com. Henson helped Guilford reach theNCAA Division III Tournament semifinals while setting school recordsfor three-pointers and three-point attempts in a season. Anthony Hilliard (pictured) averaged 22.9 points and 11.0 rebounds per game tobecome the only ECSU player to be named Conference (CIAA) Player of theYear twice and was named a First Team All-Region honoree for the thirdtime in his career. Tyler Sanborn joins Henson as the second Guilford College selectionon the All-State first team. Sanborn was named First TeamAll-Conference and D3hoops.com South Region Player of the Year. The MVPof the John Carroll Section in the NCAA Division III Tournament,Sanborn ranked third in Division III rebounding while finishing with 19double-doubles on the year.
