NCCSIA Announces 2015 University Division All-State Volleyball Teams

The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2015 University Division All-State Volleyball Team Wednesday. Fourteen student-athletes from four North Carolina universities were selected to the first and second teams.

The Colonial Athletic Association’s (CAA) UNCW led the way with four first team selections. Appalachian State University of the Sun Belt Conference and UNC-Chapel Hill of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) earned four selections as well with the Mountaineers collecting two first team honors.

Senior Seahawk Meredith Peacock earned her second All-State honor as a first team middle blocker, and Chapel Hill’s senior Victoria McPherson garnered her first selection this year with first team honors. Peacock led UNCW to its first CAA title and NCAA appearance with a nationally ranked 1.41 blocks per set and 159 total blocks. She collected All-CAA first team honors and was named the CAA Tournament MVP. Named to the All-ACC first team, the Tar Heels’ McPherson ranked third in the ACC with a .381 hitting percentage and ranked nationally with a 1.32 blocks per set average.

App State’s outside hitter Jess Keller led the Sun Belt Conference with 507 kills and 4.57 kills per set to earn her second All-State honor with a first team selection. UNCW’s outside hitter Nicole Lott earned her second All-NCCSIA honor as well and led the Seahawks with 374 kills to garner All-Conference first team recognition.

Lott’s teammate Kristin Powell collected All-State first team honors as a right side hitter. She averaged 2.73 kills per set and received an All-Tournament selection and All-CAA third team honors.

Appalachian’s Paige Brown earned her second consecutive All-State first team honor as the Mountaineers’ setter. She led the Sun Belt with 1,335 assists and 12.03 assists en route to setting a new all-time career record with 4,476 assists at Appalachian State.

The Seahawks senior libero Lindsay Hartmann was named to the All-State first team with an average of 4.29 digs per set. She earned third team All-CAA honors and finished fourth in the league with 468 digs.

The NCCSIA All-State second team includes UNC-Chapel Hill’s Paige Neuenfeldt, Taylor Treacy, and Abigail Curry, Appalachian’s Emily Corrigan and Ashton Gregory, as well as High Point University’s Haley Barnes and Annemarie Chin.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The organization seeks to promote collegiate athletics and student-athletes at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

NCCSIA selects All-State teams for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball on the College (Division II, III, NAIA) and University (Division I) levels.
